Welcome
Welcome back to kumare-kumpare.com.
After a brief hiatus, were back, better than ever, with improved functionality. Our inspired webmasters worked extra hard to make this website a joy to use. Remember, kumare-kumpare.com is a wonderful tool to keep us all connected, but only if we use it.
About Us
To be a kumare or kumpare is probably one of the highest levels of friendship that two people can attain. For being a godparent (which earns one the kumare/kumpare status) means sharing in the responsibility of guiding and inspiring a child. Figuratively, calling someone your kumare/kumpare (even without the godparenting connection) indicates a strong bond of friendship that sometimes even transcend familial ties.

We are a close-knit group of former high school classmates at the Ramon Magsaysay (Cubao) High School who after graduating in 1980 have kept in close contact with each other. The group has expanded over the last twenty years or so to include friends, spouses and kids! Ours is a great friendship now even made stronger by a web of kumare- and kumpare-ships. Even more gratifying is seeing our kids and godkids take this relationship to the next generation as they forge friendships of their own.
With kumare-kumpare.com, we expect to take this connectedness to new (high-tech) heights with quick and easy access to updates, announcements, photos and all kinds of information. Now, kumares and kumpares across the globe are no more than a mouse click away.

Vision
Ramon Magsaysay (Cubao) High School envisions that after four years, the students that go through its portals shall be transformed into citizens who will constitute a community that is peaceful and progressive, a people united in their common goal to live a life dedicated to faithful service of God and country.
Mission
Ramon Magsaysay (Cubao) High School commits itself to provide students, especially those who are from less-fortunate families within the community where it is located, quality basic education that will help produce citizens who are God-fearing and God-loving; citizens who are healthy both in mind and body; a people who are economically self-sufficient and responsive to the needs not only of their community but of the country as well.
History
Ramon Magsaysay (Cubao) High School was established as an annex of Quezon City High School in 1953. It was located at EDSA, near Cubao Elementary School. In SY 1958-59, this annex became the independent Cubao High School, which relocated in 1960 to New Orleans St., behind the old City Hall. Due to accelerating socio-economic development in Quezon City, Cubao High School-annexes began sprouting. The first of these was the Murphy Annex, which started operations in 1961. This annex was named Juan Sumulong High School upon being designated an independent school in 1964. The second annex became Carlos P. Garcia High School, while the third became Ponciano Bernardo High School.
On March 17, 1965, Cubao High School was renamed in memory of a much-loved president who perished in a plane crash on March 17, 1957 - Ramon Magsaysay. Consequently, March 17 of every year is observed as the school’s Foundation Day. The school year 1968-1969 saw a record boom in enrolment, resulting in the lack of accommodations for the more than 5,000 students. To remedy the situation, the old Quezon City Hall, standing on prime land at the corner of EDSA and Ermin Garcia St., was appropriated as the permanent school site.
Unfortunately, on March 15,1981, a devastating fire gutted the entire school building. Everything the school had acquired through the years went up in smoke. School year 1981-1982 was spent at the nearby Raval Building, which was rented by the city government to enable students to continue their schooling.
Through the initiative of former First Lady and then Metro Manila Governor Imelda R. Marcos and Mayor Adelina S. Rodriguez, construction of a P13.6 million school building began in 1982. The three-story building was inaugurated on September 8 of the same year.
The implementation of the Secondary Education Development Program (SEDP) in 1989 brought major changes not only in the school curriculum but also in the schools facilities development. Through the initiative of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports, a two-story SEDP building was constructed. Still, this additional structure was not enough to meet the needs of the rising school population.
To cope with the demand for more classrooms, the city government vacated the adjacent Post Office to give way to the construction of a new school building sponsored by Congressman Sonny Belmonte. The P12 million structure was designed to enhance computer-based education. The classrooms were equipped with new sets of computers in line with Congressman Belmontes thrust of revitalizing public education in preparation for the next millennium.
Today, in line with the governments program of nationalizing public secondary schools aimed at upgrading free secondary education, Ramon Magsaysay (Cubao) High School continues its dedicated service to the youth, the community, and to the country.
